Our Motto: We Serve
A voluntary community service organization

The Dripping Springs Lions Club was chartered in May of 1978, over two decades ago, and has been in continuous operation ever since. Its first president was A. Bates Brownson. Nine of the original charter members are still active members. The founders erected a black granite marker on Loop 64, at the bridge which is near today's Middle School entrance. The names of all of the charter members appear on this marker, and are clearly readable.

The original Club spawned a second Dripping Springs Lions Club in February of 1987. The original group is today's Breakfast Lions, while the new one met at noon until 1998, when it changed to evening meetings. Thus the two clubs together accommodate people for whom either early morning or evening best fits their own lifestyle.

The breakfast club originated a unique practice. At each meeting the member whose handshake is judged best is awarded a dollar bill. The handshake award was initiated to promote members getting to know each other better. Each member wears a nametag to make it easier to learn each others' names.
