The Stevie Ray Vaughan Experience
I really appreciate this internet opportunity to express myself about Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is embedded so deep within my soul and I am so convinced that the quality of his music and personality will be extremely hard to top or duplicate. I desire greatly to in some way revive that quality. Kenny Wayne Shepherd seems to be the closest thing currently to remotely give us that kind of quality. But even he at the same age SRV was then doesn't come to the same. People say, give KWS time, he'll develop more quality. But SRV at that age already had twice as much quality. I thank God though that KWS has similar integrity. There are few like him now days. I wrote a short piece last week that gives an overall picture of my SRV experience, but I didn't have time to get to the heart of what I really wanted to tell all. (Sonja Saastad) Without a doubt, the power of Stevie Ray Vaughan and the utter giving up of his total self to making every note count caught my ear last winter, and it no doubt catches the ear of everyone who hears him. Stevie himself consistently played what was deep in soul, so how can one not help but feel a deep moving within his own soul. Hence, the album "Soul To Soul". I also believe that what was deep in Stevie's soul was a deep love for mankind. That too reaches out to one's soul. I thank God Almighty in heaven for him. Referring to Chris Layton's dream as he described in an Austin City Limits interview, I pray he pours out his potion from time to time. Sonja Saastad
