The Stevie Ray Vaughan Experience

I'm a babe in the woods, compared to many of the other folks who posted here, those who were lucky enough to have seen Stevie or even had his music in their lives for so long. But I love him, too, so I want to put in my two cents, as meager as they are! It's embarassing to say I just discovered him within the last couple of months - and I'm 39 years old!! I knew his name but never made the connection between that and his music, which started growing on me in the last several months. One day a couple of months ago, I was in a record store and just decided I was going to try and find "that guy who sings that song "Crossfire". No one helped me, I found Stevie in the CD racks all by myself. I've been entranced ever since. I play his Texas Flood CD all the time now and my little girl even grooves to his faster stuff. She keeps telling me "play it again". His slower jams like Texas Flood and Tin Pan Alley transport me. What a guitar!! Unbelievable. When I read a little blurb in our newspaper yesterday that he had died in a plane crash 11 years ago, I sat there stunned. That's how clueless I was - I had been looking forward to catching him in concert sometime in the future! I felt like I lost a new friend. Now, after reading so much about him on this and other sites, I see how profoundly he influenced people. It's great to see what an impact he had. I'm kind of late to the SRV experience, but still grateful I found him (or maybe he found me). Can't wait to experience more!
