The Stevie Ray Vaughan Experience
Gregory Viviani
May 12, 2001

If you really love the blues, you had to love Stevie Ray. And even if you didn't really love the blues, you still had to love Stevie Ray.

In my view, simply put, he was the best ever. There are a lot of blues guitar players, and other styles of guitar players, who could lay down some terrific riffs. Stevie Ray could anything they could do, and with ease. The big difference is that with most guitar players, at some point they sort of run out of riff material. Not Stevie Ray. I have never heard anyone who could come close to Stevie Ray. When he started playing, it was like the energizer bunny in action. But even beyond that, it was his imagination, and ability to blend different types of music, that really made him special.

My guess is that he was simply too good. They had to hear him up in heaven, and called him there for a command performance. I hope to hear him again some day.
