The Stevie Ray Vaughan Experience
I'm 45 years old and grew up listening to alot of different music. I've listened to it all and my musical tastes are diverse. After all is said and done, I love the blues best. Of course there SRV still reigns supreme. The best example I can give of how great this man's music was is to explain how it changed my son's life. Because of a divorce, I was separated from my son for many years. We keep in touch by phone, but I was not a big part of this life. When my son turned 18 he came to live with me. He brought with him his music....mostly rap like DMX. He would not listen to anything else. One afternoon, I was able to persuade him to sit down in the middle of living room with his eyes closed and listen. Up went the volume and in went SRV. I swear to you ... an hour later, my son was a changed man. It was like he had seen the light. It still gets to me how great that was. SRV played his music with heart and sole.. and that's what it gives to me. His music and playing remains a truthfulness in emotion that transcends all other known methods of expression. The Sky is Crying ... as do we. Larry
