The Stevie Ray Vaughan Experience
Jason Jones
January 29, 1999

I was in the middle of nowhere on my way back to college after being home for the weekend when i heard about the death of Stevie Ray Vaughn. I had only "discovered" the music ov SRV about 3 months before but had become an instant fan. When i heard the news on the radio I pulled off the road at a little store and just sat in my car in shock. How long I sat there I have no idea but all I could think about was how for the first time I had found music that i actually felt every note, not just heard. A few weeks later I was home for the weekend again and the local radio station was giving away a limited edition tribute cd put out by Epic records. I spent the whole weekend glued to the radio to try to win but had no luck. On my way back to school i kept listening to that station for the last chance to call in and win the cd. I was out of range of the station and getting almost nothing but static but did not notice because I could only think about the greatest guitarist I had ever heard as i drove. When i did realize that the station was lost I was about to change the station when suddenly it came in clear as ever, "Seventh caller now for the last tribute cd...." As you can guess I pulled off the road at the first payphone and called and won the cd, the most prized of my collection. As I got back into my car, all excited about winning the cd, i sat there and realized that I was at the same store parling lot where i had first heard the news of Stevie Ray's death. I took it as some kind of sign and ever since i get the cd in the mail I have listened to one song off of the cd each day. Stevie Ray Vaughn will always be with us, and we should all remember that.
