Homebrewing!I'm an avid homebrewer. Here's the best recipe I've come up with so far. Nuttin Honey PorterIngredients:
Add specialty grains to water while heating (partial mashing will provide better extraction). Remove specialty grains before reaching boil. When boil reached add LME and bring back to boil. Add British Blend at start of boil. Add Honey ten minutes before finish, and Willamette Hops five minutes before finish. Cool to around 80 degrees F. Rack to primary fermentation vessel and top off with enough water to bring to five gallons. Original Gravity should be around 1.065-1.080, depending upon the amount of honey used. Fermentation should be vigorous, particularly if you used 4 lbs. honey. Fermentation may take a considerable amount of time. I don't recommend leaving the beer in primary for longer than two weeks, however, as off- flavors may occur. Therefore, you should rack to secondary before the second week finishes. When priming, dilute 3/4 cup honey in about 1/2 cup water and pasturize before adding. |
