One of the ancient mysteries of the Old Testament has to do with the problem that if Adam and Eve were the first persons, and Cain and Able were their only children of record, where did these sons get their wives.
Maybe the problem has more to do with a faulty memory on the behalf of Adam. I can imagine a letter from Fred to Adam describing the virtues of his eligible daughters. Forgetful Adam writes back.
