Crossing the Vampire Tale One

This was posted by Stan Kegel on the groaners listserv.

Dr. Von Helsing was traveling by coach through Transylvania. The sun set just as he approached Vatra-Dornei castle. Suddenly, a bat flew in through the coach window and was transformed into a wild looking vampire dressed in a black frock coat with a long beard.

Afraid of being bitten, Von Helsing took a crucifix from his pocket and held it between him and the vampire.

The vampire looked at the cross, laughed and said, "Gornisht helfen."*

*Yiddish for, "It wouldn't help."
