- ABCD's has a large jazz selection. They also have an impressive
number of logo stickers. They have a rack of promos they give away with
your purchase if you spend over a certain amount (usually $20-$30).
- David M. Cook (2/19/96)
- Very good selection of used classical CDs, including some unusual
imports. They do know the "good stuff" and price accordingly.

- Small selection of LPs. They have a return policy, so if the LPs are
badly scratched or groove damaged you can return them.

- They have some nice posters for sale, but I was unimpressed with their
record selection. Everything in the store is old and musty. A certain
hippie charm, up to a point.

- I'm not into hip-hop or rap but this place has more than
any other store. They sell used 45s for $0.50, the same price as
Goodwill, only they have a prodigiously higher percentage of good
recordings in the (very large) bin. They pay very poorly for
used CDs (avg. $2 per), yet they somehow have a pretty good selection
of used discs. There's also a very good selection of local music at
this store. One thing at this store that I haven't seen anywhere else
is a discount import section.

- Best selection of new national and local 7"s in town. This is also the
best place to sell your used stuff; they are very picky about what they
will take, but they will give you a better price than anyone else. They
also will give you even more if you take the trade for in-store credit
rather than cash. Sound Exchange is a Naughty Record Store(tm) -- they
buy used promotional recordings from DJs and sell them cheaply. As a
result, the major labels hate them, but at least you won't be
confronting any cardboard Mariah Carey cutouts or walls plastered with
582 copies of the same Alanis Morrisette poster.
- Stashus Mule Records

- Eric McKinney (1/19/96)
- This place is the most likely to buy your old discs. Unless it's
something really special, though, you'll never get more than $3 or
possibly $4 per.
- David M. Cook (2/19/96)
- The selection of used classical CDs is good but not as interesting as
ABCDs. Also, they don't know budget CDs from full-priced CDs, so be
careful not to pay too much.

- Sound Exchange may have more LPs, but I think Waterloo has a better
selection. The majority of Sound Exchange's LPs are in mediocre shape.
Waterloo is more selective about the used LPs they buy, and they have a
much better selection of new LPs. Their prices are higher than Sound
Exchange's for vinyl, but you get what you pay for. Waterloo has some
very good weekly sales. They also have the best reggae selection (on
all formats) in town.
- Miles O'Neal (11/6/96)
- Waterloo has a phenomenal selection. Call before you go
looking for something in particular, but more than once
they were the only place in town with obscure, out-of-print
CDs I wanted.
