I've only had their lunch buffet, which, while good, is quite tamed down.
Abbas Rachid (2/26/96)
Dinner is quite good; The lunch buffet, although ok, didn't particularly impress me.

There is a fairly new (opened Nov. 15) Thai restaurant in Ceder Park - Poothai. It is next to the Post Office in the Buttercup Creek shopping center. Very good.
Angela Morris (3/12/97)
Poothai is about the best Thai food I have ever had. Their lunch menu is great and cheap (~$5). They have this magical Basil dish (L1 on the lunch menu) to die for. And, they are very flexible as far as special meal requests. I've been to many Thai restaurants in California, Seattle, and Houston, and Poothai kills them all!!
Manzoor Hassan (5/6/97)
Just wanted to say how much I've enjoyed my many, many visits to Poo Thai. I have always been there for Lunch so far but am thinking of going there for dinner one of these days.

Satay is not exclusively Thai food. They also feature food from Malaysia, Singapore, and other countries of the South China Seas.
Their peanut sauce is simply the best I've ever had. And it's available in many grocery stores.
Abbas Rashid (2/26/96)
Dinner is quite good, and lunch is ok. Not as hot as Thai food could be. Good peanut sauce, which they've started marketing outside.

I've been to the south location a few times, and it's always been wonderful. I just wish they had a location north of the river.
Lemuel Johnson (12/15/95)
Christmas comes early for you. The newest of the three Thai Kitchen locations is on Guadalupe just north of Antone's, next to Passage to India. Haven't been there yet, but salivate every time I pass by.
Abbas Rashis (2/26/96)
Been there for both Lunch/Dinner. My favorite restaurant (the food part, their service can be disappointing sometimes) in Austin. By far better than the other Thai restaurants I've been to. They also have a menu section for especially hot food for people who like it really hot. This applies to the locations on Wm. Cannon and Bee Caves. I've heard that the Guadalupe location is not as nice, but I havent been there.
Shantanu Ganguly (3/20/96)
I've been periodically to all the Thai kitchen locations, and Bangkok Cuisine and Satay. The Thai Kitchen on William Cannon & 35 has always been the best, the location on the drag is too watered down.
Ben Combee (4/22/96)
One nice thing is that they will make any dish vegetarian (use tofu) just for asking. No other substitutions, though.

I dont know if it is still around. Went there once for dinner about 6 months ago, and will never go there again.
Farooq M. Butt (2/26/96)
I agree with Abbas on Thai Soon. GAK! What an experience that place is...
Jean Kidd (4/24/96)
It will be later rather than SOONer that I return there. Food was mediocre, dishes and utinsils seemed unclean and the place seems to have been decorated with garage sale leftovers.
