- The best Prime Rib in town. Very good steaks, but McKlusky's is better.
- Blake Krass (3/25/95)
- Food is good, and atmosphere is interesting. Chateaubriand (sp?) is
excellent, but got so expensive we finally quit going. The prices seem
to be set assuming each diner has a 25% off coupon.
- Mark Hanna (5/1/96)
- I read the comments on the Austin WWW Guide to Steak Houses before
coming to Austin from Boston. I've been doing a lot of traveling the
past several weeks and the Old San Francisco is the one restaurant I
would like to take home with me. My very good filet mignon , the
excellent waiting staff, the athletic girl on the swing, and the old
time style made for an unforgettable meal. I am sorry I missed trying
one of McKlusky's steaks, but if I return to Austin I will probably
return to the Old San Francisco.
- Roger Perry (6/22/96)
- If you can put up with the hokey atmosphere, has the best steaks and
Rack of Lamb I have had in a long time. Fairly priced. Great place to
take your parents, the old folks love it.
- Outback Steakhouses
- North
- 713 East Huntland Drive
- Tel: (512) 458-6283
- Northwest
- 11600 Research Blvd.
- Tel: (512) 343-6333
Reader Remarks
- Dewey Coffman (3/5/95)
- Steaks are tender, with a perhaps a bit too much salt, but good
none-the-less. It's usually very busy at the Northwest location.
- Ruth's Chris Steak House
- 3010 Guadelupe
- Tel: (512) 477-7884
Reader Remarks
- John Bond (3/25/95)
- Over advertised. Over hyped. Over Priced. A very MOR steak house. Not
worth it. Stuart Anderson's was better and they went out of business
here.
- Blake Krass (3/25/95)
- Finally decided to try it once. As someone else posted, we thought it
was overrated and overpriced.
- Dewey Coffman
- It's high-priced, but not over-priced. You definately get what you pay
for. The prime rib is only good sometimes, but the Ribeye and New York
Strip are usually excellant.
- Mark Herro (4/10/95)
- I also found Ruth Chris' a big yawn.
- Roger Perry (6/22/96)
- A terrible restaurant. A $20 steak, and they charge you $5 for a $0.25
baked potato! The steaks weren't that good either.
- U.R.Cooks Steakhouse
- 9012 Research Blvd.
- Tel: (512) 453-8350
Reader Remarks
- Blake Krass (3/25/95)
- My wife and I think this place has the best steaks around. The price is
excellent, and you can always split a steak for two if you plan to pig
out on bread, salad, and baked potatoes. Fun place to go with a group.
Sunday afternoons it is empty while there are 30 minute wait at other
places nearby.
- Dewey Coffman (7/31/95)
- If you are really hungry for lots of BEEF, this is a good place for
you. The cook it yourself aspect is kinda fun, but you still pay quite
a bit ($20) a head to get out the door.
