Star of India and Bombay Grill appeal to me the most.

This is the BEST Indian place for vegetarians. Their buffet always has AT LEAST three vegetarian options and they use separate cooking grills for veggies and meat.
The variety of vegetarian dishes is astonishing. We went there for three weekends in a row and they had at least one dish we had never tried before on the buffet each time. I believe that they also have an evening buffet. Vegetarians can rest assured they do NOT use chicken broth in any of the veggie dishes, unlike most of the other Indian restaurants in town.

One Indian place that is definitely bad is Passage to India on Guadalupe - very bad service and they serve old leftovers from the lunch buffet for dinner and have the audacity admit it shamelessly and have a take-it or leave it attitude. Expensive for a place like this.

Yes, Passage to India sucks big-time: both food and service.

There is a good Indian restaurant called Star of India, which is located on Anderson Lane. It is quite good and should be included in your guide.

Standard N.Indian fare, but the probably the best bet for Indian food in Austin. Has a good bar, but the staff needs to lighten up. They are too serious :-)
