Austin Axis welcomes all comments about Austin-area brewpubs. A brewpub shall be considered to be any bar that makes it own beer, whether bottled or on tap. Food need not be served, but comments about a particular brewbpub's food are certainly welcome. Please send remarks to:

Always serves good beer and also has the distinction of having the best food of any of the brewpubs in Austin.

Not exactly my favorite place. Very much caters to the Sixth Street crowd. The beer isn't bad, however.

This is my favorite hangout. Besides having a rotating selection of their own beers, they have fifty or so taps of all your favorite beers from around the world.

Lovejoy's

Lovejoy's now brews their own beer. In fact, it's brewed by Eric and Darren, the owners of Austin Homebrew Supply. I haven't been in to taste their offerings yet, but I intend to do so soon.

Every beer at the Waterloo is always great. Try the Guytown IPA - if you think you can handle it. I was there for the first time in a couple months, and I'd quite forgotten how good that IPA is. If you're in Austin, don't miss it.
Brian Combs (8/17/96)
The beer is good (the Porter is my favorite), but other than the hamburgers, the food is pretty questionable.
